Well, the annual salary may be the same at ACN as at some industry job without travel. But the ACN hours are longer. So if you were making $1500/wk, that would come out to approx. $35/hr (since most people work 42 hours a week, not 40 hrs) at the industry job and approx. $29/hr. week at Accenture (based on a typical week - some weeks may have more hours than are typical). I'm not counting the hours spent traveling in this calculation.
You do get per-diems. So if you work Mon-Thu at the client and Fri and part of Sat at home, then you could get another $120/wk tax free, which is equivalent to $160 in your paycheck, pre-tax. So you will be earning the equivalent of $1660/ wk (instead of $1500). So think of it as earning 34.50/hr.
So the pay would be pretty much the same. You really can't expect to get paid for (or have money factored into your pay) for the 8 - 12 hours a week you are traveling between airports and cities. |

Thanks guys for that info.
I get the per diems, miles, travel perks, consultant lifestyle, consulting industry and all that stuff but here's my point: how do you compare an industry job, maybe a desk job with that compared to a let's say 100% travel job.
I mean, there is a difference right ? obviously, you'll be spending more time, effort and your resources on the travel job and it'll take a bigger toll on you.
What's the price for that and how is it factored into the salary ?
