You are going to be doing IT work. Not all of it is technical - plenty of process-type stuff that has a business angle to it. That is what I do. But the bulk of the work is IT. In fact, on many of my projects we often have Strategy people. They do the same bloody work as the non-strategy folks - but they just get paid 20% more.
So you have two choices: a) suck it up; b) reject the offer. If you talk to the recruiter they will purr some reassuring word about how you will be doing business consulting work after all. That is simply not true. Mind you, not a blatant lie - they just don't know any better (hence, they work in HR). |

Ok, it seems like I am getting conflicting responses:
1) I won't do business consulting; I will be doing IT work. Business consulting is a whole other group. (Jakyj and stopnik)
2) I can do business consulting, just not strategy. (CadillacRanch)
Also, if anyone has any insight what the other divisions of business consulting ACTUALLY do (ie finance and performance management, supply chain, etc.), can you please shed some light on this.
