My opinion.
Your new to the firm - traveling 7-10 hours to reach a client site seems extreme. Especially if you have a family.
So here's my advice.
Say No
To hell with it, its not like these people are going to write your PFF.
So just say no, find another role and forget about it.

Don't feel bad saying no - just tell them it is unreasonable. Definitely don't think that you will get extra brownie points for making a long commute - nobody cares (and you will do all the travelling alone).
I did DC - CA for a while months... it ate up so much personal time to fly back and forth (and connect in fn phoenix) that I just did it every two weeks...
It would be a great way to get quick status though...
