In Reply To: Well kids, don't know if you remember my messages from December. I'm the ACN staffer that was hired and was barely chargeably over my 13 month career. I wrote I was "unchargeable" but that was a subterfuge as I did not want to give up my identity on the board. I was actually chargeable for a whooping 8 weeks in 13 months. After doing one project, and being asked to take on too much ghosting/unchargeable work that never led to anything, I decided to apply to grad school while trying to stay on the bench as long as I could. My termination and grad school acceptance both came in late February. I survived 10 solid months on the bench. Here is a rough idea of what I took home in severance: standard 2 months: $25,200 30 day "warning": $12,600 PTO payout: $18,900 And 10 months of solid beach time: $138,600.
Message: I am sure you have justified it to yourself why the company owes you $138k for not working. It's not that impressive through is it. What did you do with that last 10 months apart from figuring out how to beat the system (not hard as it's based on the premise that people won't do what you did)? Sleep late, surf the internet, play with action figures until dawn? Or maybe I am doing you a disservice and you actually spent the time doing something you have a passion for or providing a valuable public service. The only possible outcome from your actions is that the company will tighten up the system so that people cannot take advantage like you did (and perhaps denying someone who needs the bench time to find the right role in the process). Probably not though, my guess is you will have had no impact whatsoever. $138k for 10 months of your life is cheap. Some people have to do whatever job just to survive, others have the luxury of the opportunity to find work we enjoy (at least most of the time). If that's not the case then go create it or go find it, but don't sell yourself for just $138k.
