i make similar to the other poster. I am being offered less than what i make right now(they say things like we want you to be successful in ACN, it will put less stress on your initial projects, as new to big 4 this is what is possible etc).
I checked with other folks who are currently with big 4 firms, they are suggesting that irrespective of 0 big 4 experience, you should command about 15% increase(because of the terrible lifestyle you are about to get into).
Any thoughts on this line are appreciated. BTW are there any savings because you are getting per-diems etc. |

This is only my opinion. Your friends are correct. I wouldn't jump for less than 15%, period. No ifs ands or butts. The per diems are nice - but, they are not your salary. I would seriously walk if they are not offering the right salary or level. Unless you are looking to get your foot in the door and will leave after 2 years for bigger or better. If you know you will leave, take it and get the experience. But unless you feel well-compensated, there is no way you will be happy. It is not your salary that determines chargeability but your level. It is easier to get chargeable as a consultant rather than manager, but could you deal with children giving you orders? Seriously, these are mid-20s morons. They spew lots of jargon but very little practical knowledge.
The only real benefit to the consulting lifestyle is the money. If you are not well-paid, I can guarantee nothing but temporary fleeting hapiness. It is a grinding existence, particularly if you have a family. And the lousy Accenture culture of face-time doesn't make it easier on the road. But it is amazing the crap one can take if the money is right...
