In Reply To: My F&PM skills interview wasn't SAP focused, but more centered on general things about companies and finance in general. What they're really trying to find out is do you know what the hell you are talking about (i.e. do you understand business). Both of my skills interviews deteriorated after the first 10 minutes or so into a conversation about the firm, people, etc... b/c they were pretty comfortable I knew what I was talking about. The questions I had (as best I can remember) were as follows: 1) Explain the major elements of the procure to pay process and the best practices. 2) Explain the typical elements in an SSC (shared service center) and the government structure(s). Can't really remember any more, but if you have an accounting background and have worked in/for a couple of companies before, it should be really easy. Remember, it's really trying to see if you have a sound basis for being a consultant in finance.
Message: Procure to pay is finance??? Last time I checked, Procurement wasn't finance and AP was definitely not finance. AP is not even accounting, its bookeeping.
