I was recently at an Accenture pre-joiners event, where I mentioned to the HR staff about this. They said it wasn't true, and you shoudl expect to be put anywhere. |

There is no 'specified' rule, but emails were sent out for some of the operating group. They were trying to state that they were at least trying to staff new analysts in town FIRST, then look outside. It is just more cost effective that way. Nothing is in policy yet, and there never will be. It is really to put brand new analysts minds at ease. Many want to start out on a local project, learn the ropes, THEN go traveling out onto another engagement.
Plus, when you are hired for a specific office, they already have you in mind for particular local project, based on the clients needs.
