In Reply To: When you get the title change from analyst to consultant, they usually try to even out your salary with others at that level. If you are in Zone 1, that is, at a very low salary compared to your same level, same geographic region, peers, then they may give you a very large increase. 15%, such cases, would not be unusual and even extraordinary increases as high as 20% could happen. On the other hand, if you are in Zone 4, above your peers in salary, you could end up with a 0% merit increase and a mere 3% promotional increase. So "normal" depends on where you are now. Another thing, for a couple of years, large numbers of us have been biting at the bit to get out of here and find something better. With the difficult job market out there, many of us had to settle for ACN when it came to accepting jobs and it was very hard to leave. Now that things have eased up, it's becoming harder to ACN to retain its army of young IT soldiers. So raises may be a little bit better than usual due to the owner's desire to get some control over turnover. They want to choose who leaves and not leave that choice up to the employees. So that may work in your favor, too.
Message: Thank you for your reply. The thing that is bothering me is that the company will charge 25% - 60% more to the client for a consultant than for an analyst. So are you telling me that the company will make much more money from you, give you more responsability (in theory) and yet increase your salary by only 3%?
