I'm not sure I can put into words how risky your plan to do a summer internship as an IT analyst is. The work in IT consulting would not be a good demsontration of your analytical or strategy skills. You would be throwing away you experience and MBA. I don't think it would set you up for ACN strat interviews and certainly would create issues for non-consulting applications. If you took a full time job as an IT consulting analyst the chances of transfering into strategy would be very, very low.
You are MUCH, MUCH better off doing a summer internship in marketing than going through w/ this plan.
If you're at a Top 10 MBA w/ a military background then strategy consulting is very doable w/ no prior experience. People make the move from military->top MBA->IB or MC every year; this is a common event. You just need to put in the work to network and prep for case interviews. |

If you're at a top 10 MBA and you're looking on the Accenture vault board for career advice, then you have more problems than I think!!!
Btw- most MBA consulting recruiting for internships is done for the year, unless you're sending in a resume separately.
