I know that I am over-qualified for this. I had 5 years of working experience in the miltary, but none in consulting. However, all I want to do is to get into Consulting, especially the strategy group in Accenture. This is kinda a risky plan. I will end up doing some works as an undergrad. However, I will also consider that this way is best to "sell myself" by showing them how good I can do the work.
My question is: What can MBA do in IT Consulting? How easy is it to switch to the strategy and biz development group? |

I'm not sure I can put into words how risky your plan to do a summer internship as an IT analyst is. The work in IT consulting would not be a good demsontration of your analytical or strategy skills. You would be throwing away you experience and MBA. I don't think it would set you up for ACN strat interviews and certainly would create issues for non-consulting applications. If you took a full time job as an IT consulting analyst the chances of transfering into strategy would be very, very low.
You are MUCH, MUCH better off doing a summer internship in marketing than going through w/ this plan.
If you're at a Top 10 MBA w/ a military background then strategy consulting is very doable w/ no prior experience. People make the move from military->top MBA->IB or MC every year; this is a common event. You just need to put in the work to network and prep for case interviews.
