remember, when you choose your withholdings, all you're doing is estimating for the end of the year.
if you have capital gains, well, unless you squirrel away what you'll end up paying....that's your deal. the gov't assumes if you're smart enough to make money like that, you're smart enough to understand the taxes to go with it.
anywho, your estimate hits the fan april 15th. withholdings ask 3, maybe 4 questions about you to guess your taxes. your EOY forms are probably around 10+ pages.
if you owe, you have no one to blame but yourself. try the tax professional if you're convinced you've made a mistake, but tax programs are pretty simple to use. i doubt you made a mistake.
taxact is free to download and use. see if your return is the same as what you have already done. or try some other one, too. i don't know of any other 100% free ones. grab it from a friend for research purposes.... |

detected a little shoulder chip on that last post....anyway. i'm in same boat, left the firm. did some work for client in nyc ly (along with a few other states). have done taxes myself, but from what i've been hearing, looks like i'll see a professional. sure will miss the assistance acn gave for tax prep, sure could use that money.
