I have 2 offers that I need some advice on. Not really sure which industry will be better working conditions/lifestyle.
UBS - iBank & ACN - IT consulting
1- UBS ISD Associate for wealth mgmnt (2 yr program $54k base salary, $6k sign on bonus) for NJ area
2- ACN Consultant analyst for NY/NJ area (2 year as analyst > IT consultant $56K base salary, $1K bonus) - up to 100% travel
Not really sure which one to choose as the career path for each is quite different from each other. I will graduating this May and need to make a decision fast.
Any advice or comments on this? Which would be a more valuable experience, rather which will add value to my salary in the coming years? |

You have to think in terms of what kind of long-term career you want and which entry-level job will set you up on that path.
You're making a choice between two different companies and, even more important, two different types of work and career path. If you are interested in a career in information technology and computer applications development and support, then Accenture is the place to spend the next 2 or 3 years of your life before moving on to an I.T. career. If you are more interested in business, finance and management, then join UBS.
Another consideration is long-term tenure. If you were going into the I.T. department at UBS, instead of into a business / management related job, then it would just be a case of which company is better. In that case it would be a choice between staying long-term (5 - 12 years) at one company, which would mean UBS; or just taking a short-term job to get some programming or I.T. requirements gathering experience on your resume until you can find something more substantial, which would mean ACN.
But you are choosing jobs that will lead to two, completely different, careers. So even beyond the long-term vs. short-term factors, you should choose based on what you want to do for a living.
