From all that I've read on Vault and heard from friends, this base is rather high.
However, the bonus doesn't do anything for cost of relocation as it's prorated upon start date. Since they've given me a range of 5 months for a start date, that worsens the situation further. I think this 5 month range is unreasonable especially with an at will employment agreement. How did you get a firm start date? Did you grad recently? From where?
As a local, I have some Q's for you that haven't been answered by the relocation guide or my vault queries:
I'm from IL and I'll be in town to look for apartments, so I'm arranging a visit to the office the week of 3/13. Do you recommend any neighborhoods near the Long Beach area? (I have to be mid way between El Segundo and Costa Mesa as my boyfriend will be with IBM there).
