I was there for several months last fall. At the time there were 350 ACN onshore and I think 50+ offshore. The goal was to increase to 750 onshore and 150 offshore by the end of 2006.
This project is so overwhelmingly huge. There were many ownership and communication issues while I was there -- especially becasuse there are teams from 3 companies onshore jockeying for position (Accenture, BearingPoint, CapGemini).
The article doesn't explicitly indicate layoffs, just that they will not be working in Atlanta anymore -- would Accenture really cut jobs while there are literally thousands of open roles? |

yes.
when you're services at bls for acn and you get a roll off date it is a roll off and roll out the door date. they told me (paraphrased) 'we will create a web site with job postings within acn and from the outside; this is all we will tell you about the jobs; we will not help you get a job in either case; we will not place you within acn; we will not create a position for you; you are on your own to find a job either at acn or outside'. when i left, the "web site" didn't have jack on it.
