I made the move, voluntarily mind you, but regardless, after less than a year at BE (and what a tumultuous year) I honestly feel like it is a fine place to work.
PROS: I work much better hours than I did at Accenture. Everyone does. They are much more "understanding" regarding quality of life. I take a later flight on Monday, and an early afternoon flight on Thursdays. I stay where I want (no "project" hotels). Per diems are much higher ($60-$80 a day). I was promoted in 10 months (as I would have been had I stayed at ACN, but still, it is often hard to be promoted quickly after joining a new firm -- this was not held against me). And, finally, I have HUGE opportunities in BD. Client orals, proposal management for large accounts, etc. The nature of a smaller firm. The final pro -- my salary increased by 45% when I moved over.
CONS: As a manager, I have a $1M sales goal, which is a good deal of pressure when one is fully occupied on client work. Also, the resources you work with are... um... interesting. Lots of industry folks, lots of older folks, and lots of folks that I'd describe as "rough around the edges". They get the job done, but with little finesse and often a lack of professionalism. If you are young, you will encounter resentment from the oldies who are still at the consultant level and see you moving up past them with 20 years less experience. And finally, there are still some concerns re: long-term stability; however, BE has filed their 10K (finally), let go of a lot of dead weight, is rebranding in March, and seems poised for a decent future.
Hope that helps. Bottom line, though -- if you've been out of work since November, take it! If you don't like it, keep looking... but at least get paid while you do. |

BTW, would you know how the their offshore business is doing and if so which vertical/LOB within BE is most profitable
Also is it true that BE might be sold off soon (maybe in parts or .. go pvt perhaps?)
