In Reply To: believe your information is quite correct.I know of several people in my situation who are rolling on to new projects or rolling off their old ones. There is no such thing as a "consultant making role". That's ACN lingo for "Please I am bored. Go Away !!!" The person was feeding you grass. It is all about having enough credibility and managing expectations. Were you able to set the tone of the project and get more responsibility assigned to yourself? Also if your picky you will never get staffed as again there is no "perfect role" out there. And That affects chargeability - which in my opinion is one of the biggest factors in promotion. How much money have you made for the firm? Do you have skills that are in demand or have you beaching it for a while?
Message: There are "consultant making roles" as well as manager or partner making ... You need to be in close contact with ALL people who are involved in the promotion process - and they all have to be aware that you want to make the next available slot, so they can assign you additional responsibilities and watch what you make of it. I've often been in a position to decide - and one question is always "do we have proof that he/she can fill that new role" and if the response was - "he couldn't demonstrate it yet ..." my answer usually was: "then make sure you get him into that position so he's ready the next time. And better watch it - you knew he's up for consideration and didn't act accordingly. That's a black mark for you. Case closed. Next!" btw: Chargeabilty for a consultant promotion is only reviewed if it's abysmally low, else it's irrelevant.
