In Reply To: The bottom line is, submissions for promotion to Consultant in 2006 are, for all practical purposes, already identified. If you haven't "lobbied" and jockeyed for the right role, there is no way you'll be on the list. Trust me - if you were even close to being up for early promotion, you would know about it. That said, if you want to get promoted in September of 2007, you need to start asking your career counselor about what you need to do, and you need to start being picky about roles you accept between the September-December 2006 timeframe. By "picky" I mean tell your prospective projects that you need a "consultant-making" role. good luck.
Message: believe your information is quite correct.I know of several people in my situation who are rolling on to new projects or rolling off their old ones. There is no such thing as a "consultant making role". That's ACN lingo for "Please I am bored. Go Away !!!" The person was feeding you grass. It is all about having enough credibility and managing expectations. Were you able to set the tone of the project and get more responsibility assigned to yourself? Also if your picky you will never get staffed as again there is no "perfect role" out there. And That affects chargeability - which in my opinion is one of the biggest factors in promotion. How much money have you made for the firm? Do you have skills that are in demand or have you beaching it for a while?
