In Reply To: HI : I have recently been laid off - actually not recently since Nov 05, and i am still looking for a job after having working at ACN for about 6 months. Now I have a few interviews lined up and the latest is with BE..Not that I have a choice - but moving from ACN to BE is a good career move ? Please advise
Message: BearingPoint has had a few problems in the recent past with a number of their leadership suddenly leaving the company and the SEC either investigating them or rumors flying that the SEC were going to investigate them (can't remember which really). Harry You, BE's current CEO, is an Accenture alumni as he was the ACN CFO for a couple years, a couple years ago. Recently, You announced that they had problems with some of their billing practices as "The previous management had not worked before in a public company, and they didn't know the rules, and frankly they were not competent in many areas". However, it seems that You may be able to turn around the company. He's certainly purging the old from the company, having recently gotten rid of 15 of the top 20 executives. From my friends that work at BE, it seems like a fine place to work, though a bit more political at the low levels than Accenture. I think we can all agree that Accenture is plenty political at the higher levels (as is BE), but the level of politics going on at the lower levels of BE struck me as very odd compared to ACN. As well, their Program Managers (basically the same as an Accenture client partner I think) seem to have a much larger degree of leeway in their actions. Basically each Program Manager almost acts as his own seperate company, such that policies can vary alot wider than what they probably do at Accenture. Overall, I think BE is probably a fine place to work, -especially- if you need a job and aren't finding any available, but keep one eye open to the job market as the company has some problems. In particular, the government group seems fairly strong and mostly not affected by all the turmoil of the recent events, but the rest of the company seems to not be so strong. If you have a job offering at BE in the government area and need a job, I'd definately take it.
