First off- the BG is no more or less extensive than any other non-govt/non-securities trading firm you might apply to. They're mainly looking to see that you have no criminal record, no pending felony charges, and to see what your credit status is. This is NOT a CIA job where they're going to go out and ask everybody you ever met if you ever smoked weed. This is separate from reference checking, which is even more of a joke at most levels. Most reference calls just want to know if you actually worked at the place you said you did, and whether or not you worked in some capacity near what you claimed.
Secondly- to acn-hokie's point on project BG's, please note that ACN does NOT institute BG's for projects, any BG's are CLIENT initiated and are the garden variety criminal record, credit report, and overall good citizen variety. In my 4 years at ACN I only had 1 client ever do that, and they were quasi-govt.
Bottom line- unless you have something to be concerned about in your past that you never mentioned on your app (DUIs, restraining orders, pornography experience), you have NOTHING to ever worry about. Stop reading the "horror" stories on this board about BG's. |
