In Reply To: I have my final interview for the Reston office I understand most of the work takes place in D.C. Do people drive or take their cars to the client site. I am unfamiliar with the D.C area.
Message: I'd say that a large portion of the work out of the Reston office for the Government MU isn't in DC at all, but rather in Reston or one of the other outlying suburbs. There are large projects with US-Visit and DIA (just the one's I can think of offhand) in Rosslyn, Arlington, and Alexandria. Like OutsourcingGuy said, there are projects that are at further outlying places as well and the "Where to Reside" thread does have some good info in it. Parking in DC can be pretty expensive ($10-$15 per day downtown where I'm at) and most project's policies (I think) is to reimburse the amount over what it costs you to commute to Reston. Personally it ends up costing me about the same to go to Reston (considering the current mileage is around $.41/mile or something) as it does to park, so I'd end up getting nothing reimbursed. I end up just Metro'ing anyway as it ends up being easier. Driving in DC during non-rush hours can be annoying enough, especially for people not used to the city as you say you are. During rush hour it can be downright maddening. Take the Metro if you can :-)
