A little confused here...if someone could please explain...

,p>Just wondering, since I've read on the board that ACN doesnt push for MBA or provide tuition assitance -- how is that an analyst with just an undergrad degree can move up to being a consultant, since a consultant usually has an MBA??

Rather, in order to be a consultant with ACN, is it necessary to have an MBA?

Message: tend to fall into two groups. The people who are "growing up with the firm" - came in straight from undergrand and are working their way up the ranks. And experienced hires. Experienced hires usually have an MBA or some sort of an advanced degree - people "growing up with the firm" usually just have stunted emotional development, and no graduate education. Remember, the word "consultant" is a misnomer. It is actually the second level up from the bottom of the ladder, analyst. I think the way you use the word consultant implies managers and senior managers - who are a lot more seasoned, experienced people that fall into the two categories I outlined above. To succeed in Accenture, advanced education doesn't hurt - but it is not a prerequisite. First, is the ability to "get" the culture. Second, you must be able to run a project. Third, and most importantly, to hit senior exec you must be able to consistently sell work. Graduate education is a nice-to-have, but not a necessity. I am continually amazed by the "crap schools" many of the experienced people have MBAs from. Because at the end of the day, it is not important. Selling, managing, and assimilating are what really count. Maybe some of the strategy people feel differently, but for the vast majority of the consulting workforce, MBA doesn't matter.
