Hey everyone,
I am new to the consulting message board. I see so many posts about recruiting through campus programs. I graduated in 2004 with a Finance degree. I am thinking about a transition to management consulting. Currently, I am in financial services. I did not graduate from a target school, rather state school. How would I go about getting interviews with top-tier companies? Is it a matter of tailoring a resume and cover letter specific to firms within the industry or are top tier firms (Mckinsey, BCG, BOH) pretty selective? Thanks in advance.

but here are my two cents. If you want a top-flight firm, such as BCG, McK, I would not even try without a top-flight school. They get so many applicants from the top schools they have no need to even look at lower-tier schools. Varies a bit more with senior hires, though.
As far as Accenture, I have met some grads from prestigious schools, but LOTS of people from state schools. So they will definitely look at you, though I can't say for what buzz-words they have the HR filters set on when you send in your resume.
In my opinion, any top-tier undergrad worth their salt will not wind up at Accenture - we tend to get the history majors rather than the Wharton finance majors. Go ahead, all, throw your stones at me, IMHO.
