Lowballed... |

Hi,
I will be joining Accenture's GTC service line in Italy as a C1 on feb 1.
I did not negotiate my salary as I thought these were standard at each level. However after reading some posts here I am starting to worry a little.
What is the salary (range?) for a C1 in the UK?
Even better would be a C1 salary for Italy but I doubt anyone here is from the land of La Bella Vita.
I have a degree in Computer Science from a top school (University of Edinburgh) and 2 years work experience in the world's largest IT company's (hint hint Big Blue) Consulting practice. From May onwards I have been leading a high profile telco project (the youngest Project Leader in the company) which is what got me the visibility for an offer in ACN.
My salary in ACN is EUR 32k GROSS (post-tax, about EUR 21k) that is the same as what I made in the previous company) BUT Consultants in Italy also get a (pre-set) car to the value of about EUR 13k.
Have I been lowballed? I was under the impression there was no lowballing in ACN (stupid me perhaps) and had heard that ACN doesn't consider outside experience that much, thus for 2 years experience I thought (still do) C1 was a good offer. As I previously wrote, I thought salaries were fixed per level.
By the way, I have been told by the recruiter that I'll be considered a September 2005 recruitee so will go to C2 in Sept 2006.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
Giovanni

I'll pardon you the Americanism!
Starting salary for a graduate in the UK is ??28,500, plus a ??10,000 signing bonus. No car, though with UK taxes that's probably a blessing.
You should expect to reach C1 within roughly 3 years. C1's generally make in the region of ??38k-??42k, or thereabouts.
Even adjusting for living costs, it looks like you've been substantially lowballed. However, making a C1 grade after just 2 years is indeed quite an achievement. Perhaps Italian salaries are considerably lower than UK salaries.
Incidentally, I'll be joining the edinburgh office as an A1 early next year. Net take-home pay in year one is around ??27k (including some of the bonus).
