I am an experienced manager who joined ACN about 14 months ago and gained exceptional ratings . However, I am concerned that lack of "Accenture" experience (knowing the right people, participation in people/community activities) is hindering my prospects for a promotion to Sr Mgr. It takes a couple of years to build that kind of positioning. It appears that for Sr Mgr and SE levels promotions, experienced hires are at a clear disadvantage compared to old timers, regardless of their capability due to lack of "Accenturization". I see a lot of good insights from ACN veterans on this board. Any thoughts on this? It would help aspiring "experienced manager candidates" decide whether its best to wait and join as a Sr. Mgr instead of taking up an Manager level position and being stuck with this barrier.

Yes, you are at a disadvantage being an experienced hire, but not much. Accenturization is a good way to say it - you may need to modify some of your behaviors to align with expected Accenture behaviors.
My experience has been that you don't need to know the right people, but you do need to actively manage your career. Make sure the people you work for stand up for you when the time comes.
Here's my free advice:
1. Use the GAT tool. In it are expectations by level. Look at the manager and senior manager expectations, and understand them. Print them out and keep a copy around.
2. Sit down with your supervisor, and discuss how you are or are not meeting those expectations. Explain your goal, and ask your supervisor what you need to improve to be promoted.
3. 36 months at manager level is the minimum amount of time before you're even considered for promotion. It may take you longer.
