Topic Name: Getting to Sr Manager promotion
Message Name: Disadvantage for experienced hires

Message: I am an experienced manager who joined ACN about 14 months ago and gained exceptional ratings . However, I am concerned that lack of "Accenture" experience (knowing the right people, participation in people/community activities) is hindering my prospects for a promotion to Sr Mgr. It takes a couple of years to build that kind of positioning. It appears that for Sr Mgr and SE levels promotions, experienced hires are at a clear disadvantage compared to old timers, regardless of their capability due to lack of "Accenturization". I see a lot of good insights from ACN veterans on this board. Any thoughts on this? It would help aspiring "experienced manager candidates" decide whether its best to wait and join as a Sr. Mgr instead of taking up an Manager level position and being stuck with this barrier.
