"Counsel you out" is a leftover term from Andersen Consulting, which had something called "up and out." We don't have anything that like here, but the term is still sometimes used. Sort of like the way, when you push the buttons on your telephone, you call that "dialing", even though there is no dial. |

We still have up or out in consulting. If you don't make your promotion within three years of being eligible for it, then you're out.
