Otherwise be ready toleave on the day you give notice. I have seen this happen to at least 2 people. |

That would be incredibly irresponsible way to act, and could do more to harm your career than help it.
To follow up on what I said earlier, be prepared for the possibility that you will be asked to leave on the day you give notice, but following YNY's advice is a career limiting move. You never know when you might run into people again.
