However, there are people who got less than 48-50K with majors other than econ or engineering, so the generalization is not true. |

55k is definitely not a guideline for engineers because 55k isnt 55k all over the US. Generally, engineers do get higher offers (on average) but it still pales in comparison to working for a upper tier engineering/tech company right out of college. There are exceptions of course (like living in the SF/NYC areas)
