I would like to take a 1 yr LOA to take care of some personal things. Is that a possibility or am I treading on a fine line right now. By the way, I am in the US. |

Friend of mine just took a LOA to travel around the world for 6 months (with the United promotion that was running at one point... fly a certain number of segments in/out of Dulles and they'd give you a free Regional/International/etc trip depending on the number of segments. He made it to the top level in 4 months or so, which was an around-the-world trip).
He hadn't been with the company all that long at all (around a year or so) and was in Services. He basically just told them he wanted to take a LOA from July to January and they were fine with it.
