Should there be certian type of roles/project I should try to persure while working for accentures government consulting practice? I really enjoy programming but Im not trying to get pigeon-hole and become a code monkey. |

you are assigned to do. Do it really, really, really well. And maintain that pace for a nice long time. Once you establish a "name" for yourself, more senior people will request your services, and then you will be in a position to pick and choose. If being a "code monkey" is what it takes - do it. I won't even tell you the awful scut work I had to do to establish my credentials as a strategy consultant. But by maintaining a big smile, doing the work, etc - I eventually got to write my own ticket. There is a really good post above regarding picking and choosing your assignments - and someone said something very important - your wishes and desires mean absolutely ZILCH both at Accenture or any other consulting firm for that matter. Your only job is to be profitable - and that means taking what you get. But once you "establish your brand," things will change, and then you will have more options. So my advice is to shut-up and stay chargeable - at first.
