In Reply To: You are correct that not everyone is staffed right away, and this is one of the hardest things for our new people. But, as difficult as it may be to accept, it's part of the job and it's expected. Your mileage may vary, but my first 2 years included: 2 months on the bench, a couple months of development, a couple months of structured testing, another month on the bench, a few months doing PMO work, and then a role coordinating a test team with 13 Accenture, vendor and client resources. In my last role, I was supported by a part-time Associate Partner, and couldn't have done it without that AP's help; but quite frankly that kind of experience is generally unavailable to a 23 year old. Obviously you need to prove yourself, but once you prove yourself at Accenture, you can count on being challenged in stretch roles that are not generally available outside Accenture. In short: here you will work on a variety of challenging and important projects, at multiple clients, for multiple executives (Accenture & client), in multiple locations, to deliver our client's most important business capabilities. If that sounds like something you want to do, and the offer you get is consistent with both your salary and work objectives, I highly recommend Accenture. In parting, I will add that--after 8.5 years--I can honestly say I don??t regret a day I??ve spent here. Conversely, most of my friends who've left for what they perceived as more money or more interesting work, have been consistently disappointed.
Message: Hi, I have applied online for an Entry Level Consultant Analyst position in the Atlanta office. I graduated in 2002 with a masters degree in information systems. I've been with United Parcel Service for three years and I am currently a Human Resources Supervisor. While at UPS, I have worked in operations, the technical support group, and the industrial engineering department. Does my background sound like something Accenture recruiters would consider? Is there another way to get to speak with a recruiter besides applying on the website? Accenture's policies, working environments, etc. sound very positive to me. I would really like to work for them. I'd appreciate any advice you have to offer. Thanks.
