In Reply To: It's not simply 20%. It's 20% over the normal hours for the semi-monthly work period. So if the work period is 11 business days (88 hours), the next 20% of your hours (17 1/2 hours) is unpaid work and then, starting with hour 108, you start to get straight pay. So, for example, for 110 hours you get paid for 91. For 100 hours, you get paid for 88. However, most managers are experienced enough with the system to know that the OT payments can be avoided completely by asking you to shift some of the hours from one reporting period to another. In other words, if you work 112 hours one period and 100 in another period, you can shift 6 hours from the 112 week to the 101 week making both periods 106 each and, therefore, not incurring any OT payments to staff. The client still gets charged 212 hours for the month, so no revenues are lost, but salary expense is saved. That's basically how it works.
Message: my offer sheet specifically says any hours over 40 a week.
