While many big businesses have their eye on the massive China market, Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer ZTE made the decision in the mid-1990s to take on the world. Listed on the Shenzhen and Hong Kong stock exchanges, the company last year boasted group sales of RMB 34 billion -- up 50 percent from the previous year -- with 57 percent of that business generated outside China. As a result, the company has been recognized by international research firm IDC as the fastest-growing telecom equipment and solutions provider worldwide in 2007.
