Started in 1917 by Ephraim Schottenstein, Value City Department Stores was originally a horse-drawn buggy, door-to-door individualized company selling ready-to-wear clothing by none other than the 16-year-old boy. Almost a century later, Ephraim's idea of quality brands at affordable prices consists of Filene's Basement, DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse), and Value City Department Stores. With Value City's annual revenues exceeding $1 billion, it seems that the value days of decades past have since resurfaced.
