Ober Kaler's history goes back to 1903, when two small Maryland law practices merged to form the legal partnership of Ritchie & Janney. Over the next 80 years, the firm grew significantly in size, changing its name no less than four times and finally settling on its current moniker in 1983, after a merger with a Washington D.C. firm.
