After several incarnations, what originally began as Eckert, Seamans & Cherin in 1958 is now simply known as Eckert Seamans--a Pittsburgh-based firm with three offices in the Pittsburgh area and six others scattered across the East. Its newest office was birthed from a three-year service contract with one of the firm's most notable clients, Alcoa. The world's largest aluminum producer, Alcoa outsourced its intellectual property legal work to Eckert Seamans, which operates the division from its original location. The firm beat out over 30 law firms contending for the deal.
