Requirements:
-Install, configure & support current UNIX operating systems
-Research new technologies, which are aligned with business goals.
-Troubleshoot & resolve issues that may arise with the UNIX servers or related technologies.
-Assist application development teams with software that is to be deployed on a UNIX server.
-Assess security implications for any system changes that may arise & respond accordingly.
-Provide proactive network management with deployment & use of management tools. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of server hardware & software.
-Maintain vendor contacts & relationships to ensure timely & effective resolution of problems/failures.
-Responsible for creating, maintaining & updating technical documentation as pertains to the enterprise network.
-Manage & support related peripheral technologies including tape back-up system.
-Provide after-hours support.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
-3-5 years experience in enterprise-networking environment
-2-4 years experience in supporting UNIX servers
-Experience/familiarity with basic related technologies such as networking, relational databases (Oracle, Sybase), client-server architecture
-In-depth knowledge of at least one major commercial UNIX platform (HP-UX, Solaris, AIX) or Linux platform
-Experience with various OS protocols & tools
-Excellent oral & written communications skills
-Experience with HP OpenView Administration
-Understanding of security systems & requirements
-Fluency in at least one major shell scripting language (perl, csh, ksh)
-Related practical business & technical experience
-Strong HP-UX or Linux operating system administration skills
-Basic experience using EMC or similar large storage frames & management software
-Familiarity with supporting & working with major relational databases (Oracle, Sybase)
-Familiarity with Disaster Recovery & High Availability Concepts
