Job Title : Technical Specialist II (AIX/UNIX)
Responsibilities : Shift (MON-FRI:8-4:30)
B Provide quality, Bhands onB technical support.
B Develop strategies for backing up data.
B Must be available for shift, weekend, and/or rotational work.
B Requires moderate travel.
Qualifications :
B College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.
B Minimum three years system experience in a hands-on environment that utilizes the IBM AIX operating system in a production data center.
B Must be knowledgeable about the OS requirements to support the various RS6000 architectures.
B Hands-on experience configuring and using NIM servers and restoring operating systems using mksysb and sysback.
B Must have experience creating and managing disk volumes using Logical Volume Manager
B Experience with backup/recovery tools (NetBackup, Tivoli Storage Manager, etc).
B Demonstrated competence on at least one of the following two major UNIX platforms B SUN (Solaris), HP9000 (HP-UX).
B Demonstrated competence installing and configuring Linux on various hardware platforms is a big plus.
B Vendor certification in any of the above disciplines is a plus.
B Excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to prepare and present high quality technical documentation is a must.
B Ability to work unsupervised and to provide all deliverables on time.
B Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
B Ability to learn quickly in a highly technical, fast-paced environment.
B Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office products.
