Tacoma Power, an award-winning municipal utility, is expanding its Rates, Planning and Analysis team. We a????????re looking for an experienced candidate to undertake a variety of rate and forecasting functions, who is innovative, confident and enjoys challenges and a fast-paced work environment.
A Senior Rates Analyst is responsible for preparing cost-of-service studies, developing short and long-term forecasts of energy and water sales and preparing various economic analyses of utility activities. This professional will coordinate research for the development of retail rates and other pricing activities. As an integral, collaborative member of the Rates Planning and Analysis team, this individual will be responsible for coordinating a public rate process, research, develop, implement and validate sales forecasting methodologies and assess the national, regional and local developments in utility pricing, infrastructure and other programs related to utility planning.
Desired Qualifications
Position requires a BA/BS or higher degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or Business (Finance emphasis); advanced degree is desired. Seven years of progressively responsible experience in cost-of-service, demand forecasting, financial and strategic planning and economic analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Rate analysis experience in an electric or gas utility
Ability to perform cost-of-service studies that support pricing and rates for electricity, water and short-line railroad services
Understanding and ability to implement statistical and economic analysis techniques
Strong quantitative skills and modeling proficiency
Ability to prepare long- and short-term electricity and water sales forecasts
Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software
Familiarity with SAS and Metrix Software
Financial modeling ability and experience
Effective communication skills that demonstrate highly developed verbal, writing, facilitation and presentation ability
Ability to work independently, as team leader and as a contributing team member
Ability to form effective relationships with peers, management and others
A critical thinking approach to analysis and problem solving
Highly organized work habits with an attention to detail
Superior project management skills
A passion for learning, energy for doing, and a results oriented approach to work.
