SHIFT: Sun-Wed 8am-6pm or Wed-Sat 8am-6pm
-Perform firewall configuration changes in response to client requests. Changes include but are not limited to additions/deletions to existing rule base, implementation and deletion of VPN????????????????????????s, changes to existing VPN????????????????????????s, etc.
-Perform changes to the firewall management platforms (Provider-1, NetScreen Security Manager, etc)
-Perform operating system upgrades to managed firewalls and associated management platforms.
-Escalate problems to the internal Network Engineering and external vendors as required.
-Identify chronic firewall and associated management platform problems and take action to identify and resolve the root causes.
-Perform root cause diagnosis and replacement of failed firewall and management platform components.
-Review firewall logs and rule bases to ensure that security best practices are enforced.
-Act as a technical firewall training resource for the NOC.
-Provide a technical interface with customers.
-Participate in network disaster recovery tests for the production network.
-Provide on-call support functions.
-Maintain technical expertise and required industry certifications and stay current with new networking technologies and product offerings
Required Skills:
-College degree or equivalent work related experience with a minimum of H.S Diploma or GED required.
-Preferred B.S. degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent skills developed through industry experience is required.
-Minimum one year industry experience in an implementation and support role in a large enterprise or service provider environment in the following field:
Network Security Systems -Installation, configuration and maintenance of CheckPoint, NetScreen, and Cisco firewall products. Working knowledge of management systems for firewalls and other network security products.
-Working knowledge of spanning tree and layer two switching concepts is required.
-Working knowledge of routing protocols including BGP4, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP and knowledge of the Internet concepts and routing architecture is required.
-Working knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol and services is required.
-The following Security Certifications are highly desirable: CISSP, CCSP CCSA, CCSE, NCSA, and NCSP.
-CCNA or JNCIA certification is required within first (6) months of employment.
-Ability to learn and respond to demands in a fast-paced, highly technical environment and to manage multiple projects and responsibilities is required.
-Ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as, independently is required.
-Good organizational, time management, and service delivery skills are required.
-Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
-Strong computer skills and proficiency in productivity tools are required.
