Mid-size information services firm is seeking to add a financial professional to its team. Reporting into the VP Finance,this role
will include financial and management reporting, monthly closing activities, monthly reporting on planned/forecasted performance vs. actual performance, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and coordination with key support departments in Finance. Will provide analytical support on new business initiatives and special projects as assigned and will be expected to understand financial principles and apply working knowledge of the operations of the Information Technology Division. Incumbent will work with internal business units to ensure all current customer contracts are reflected in the IT financial process and reported appropriately
Responsibility Overview:
- Support the annual expense and capital budgeting, and monthly forecasting activities for the IT Department.
- Produce monthly financial package, including metrics and sub-goals - actual/budget/forecast, expenses - actual/budget/forecast, variance explanations, staffing analysis, business conditions commentary.
- Review monthly financial package with departmental stakeholders; obtain feedback, commentary, and input for forecasting purposes.
- Model creation to assist in forecasting and budgeting process.
- Assess financial feasibility of capital asset purchases/projects; liaise with the fixed asset manager.
- Work with other departments to identify and implement best practices across functional areas.
- Document and improve existing processes.
- Develop and conduct an annual cost review exercise to validate comprehensive IT expenses
Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in a financial capacity with extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Bachelors degree, major in accounting or finance strongly preferred
- Previous experience with the development and implementation of financial processes within an IT business
- Knowledge of and experience with GAAP analysis and practices
- Proficiency with office automation software (MS Office Suite)
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work with concepts and work independently
- Excellent problem diagnosis and analytical skills
- Broad exposure to reviewing plan and strategy input
- Ability to balance several conflicting demands to achieve optimum services performance with minimum disruption to business operations
- Sound experience in devising ways to extract data from many sources and translate this data into useful information.
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines on assignments and workflow fluctuations.
- Computer literacy with regards to accounting systems and data consolidation systems.
