The investment management division of one of the major financial services firms is seeking to add a controller to oversee the financial operations of its hedge fund group. Specifics include:
- Responsible for managing the financial reporting, accounting and budgeting of the Hedge Fund of Funds business including review of financial statements, workpapers, tax filings, supervision of staff and issue research and resolution.
- Responsible for the oversight of all operations including distributions, daily cash activity, expenses, treasury needs and performance reporting.
- Coordination and oversight of the annual audits
- Analyze monthly valuations.
- Review monthly and quarterly closings.
- Assist in assessing accounting treatment of transactions and consultation with accounting policy.
- Interaction with fund administrators, custodian banks, portfolio management, internal and external counsel.
- Assist in new fund launch and coordination
- Involvement with overall process improvement and continued integration and implementation of systems and processes. (e.g. contact management, general ledger upgrades, and fund accounting)
- Ad hoc reporting
Ideal candidate will have 7/10 years experience in the asset management industry with some exposure to hedge funds,and possess strong technical and communication skills as well as analytical abilities. Must also have strong project management and supervisory skills. Some experience in public accounting and a CPA would be preferable.
