Washington, DC | 2017 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

Working on actual problems, staff gives you as much or as little leeway as you need. DC is a nice city to work in.

Downers

DC is a terrible city to work in. Yes, one of its best factors is its worse. Parking is expensive and traffic is horrendous and forces ether arriving and leaving very early or very late.

Advice to Potential Interns

Always see what the chances of you coming back to the company are there as a future intern or as an employee. Verify also that the mission of the company is something you like, or that the company has other missions that you like. Knowing the work that you are doing that is leading to something you actually care about can make you work that much harder. And be prepared to ACTUALLY work.

Advice to Management

Free Parking, but I had no problem with my management, other than problems the company was having with its time keeping system.

Uppers

The networking opportunities and the exposure to what a company has to do in a new location to be successful.

Downers

I was the only intern at my location during 2014, so I was doing everything for the program virtually.

Advice to Potential Interns

Remember to help yourself to the information available before approaching people to help. Although help and questions are always encouraged, showing that you are a self-started makes a big difference for your potential full-time opportunities.

Advice to Management

Promotional policies need to be outside of one persons control for additional checks and balances. Although we are working at a location that wows clients with lower rates, it is also important to keep quality workers by offering competitive pay.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone is very helpful. Research ahead of times how insurance claims are processed.
