Working in a Warm and Welcoming Department

4.8 of 5 stars

Raleigh, NC | 2017 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

The people within the department are hard working, welcoming, and open.

Downers

Too short, not enough time to delve into a large, intensive project.

Advice to Potential Interns

Be willing to try anything and take every opportunity: you may be surprised at where it takes you.

Dream (Internship) Come True

4.9 of 5 stars

Raleigh, NC | 2017 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

I enjoy coming to work everyday and working toward completing a project with my team. I enjoy doing life with the people on my team as well as the opportunity to detach from work when I go home.

Downers

Some projects are redundant, time consuming and the work no one else wants to do, but I am an Intern and I did sign up for this knowing what I would get to do. All in all, my projects are meaningful and appreciated even when less than exciting.

Advice to Potential Interns

SAS is a wonderful place to work with wonderful people.

Networking, knowledge - share, personal development, challenging tasks

Downers

Busy work, micromanaged tasks

Advice to Potential Interns

Don't enter the internship thinking you know everything already. Trust me, you don't. You're going to be immersed in a world of acronyms and data, and your mind will be blown. Accept that every day teaches you something new, and allow yourself to grow from the experience.

Advice to Management

Allow us to try and fail. Don't micromanage everything we do.

4.9 of 5 stars

Raleigh, NC | 2017 | VERIFIED INTERN

The people I got to work with and meet, we had a ton of inter events where we were able to meet other interns and talk to the HR team that set them up

Downers

There is nothing I can think of about what I didn't like while being here

Advice to Potential Interns

You have to be able to ask question when they are needed and not sit around hoping the answer would come to you. You can ask almost anyone in your building or anywhere for help so take advantage of it. There is an open door policy for a reason. Also, don't eat too many m&m's

Everyone was really helpful, so I wouldn't hesitate to ask when I needed help. Managers were understanding and flexible, so I could leave a few hours early if I needed to. Food and benefits were also fantastic.

Downers

I wish the internship was longer because I feel like I can do so much more now.

Advice to Potential Interns

Don't be scared to ask random people about random things and make connections because everyone is very nice and open.

Interesting Programming Project in a Nice Office Space

4.9 of 5 stars

Raleigh, NC | 2017 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

The company benefits (cheap lunch prices, although very good food), fun intern events, and the opportunity to work on a unique project in a great company.

Downers

Working on a very large project can often lead to a lot of confusion since the scope is so big.

Advice to Potential Interns

SAS is just about as good a place to work as everyone makes it out to be. Everyone here has been great and flexible. They understand the work-life balance, even in an internship, better than anyone.

Sample Interview Questions

My interview was non-technical and just a series of questions about myself, education, and previous internship experiences. The interviewers were genuinely curious about past projects I had worked on.

So happy for all the opportunities SAS provides me

Having access to learn SAS Programming and Products for free. Support here is better than you could ever hope for, I have never come across so many people that want to help you learn. Feeling of belonging, even though you are just an intern, like you can bring value and are important.

Downers

When the M&M's run out too fast, lol

Advice to Potential Interns

Advice to Management

Providing some kind of paid time off to year round interns that are here after a certain amount of time.
