Lots to learn if you step out of your comfort zone and pick up tasks that seem to challenge you

The big intern community makes it a great learning and networking experience.

Downers

I dislike that interns are not treated like full time employees here. There is a very distinct difference when it comes to intern training and full time training. The full time employees do one or two weeks of testing and they're on the developing and coding. Whereas the interns are stuck testing for their entire duration here. The only way to get coding work is to pick up bugs yourself. However, that means you have to do that outside of your working hours as your time is already packed with testing. Therefore, in order to learn more, i have to work long long hours.

Advice to Potential Interns

The candidate should know that there is a lot of manual testing involved in this position. Mostly regression testing and it can get very tiresome.

Advice to Management

I believe everyone - no matter intern or full time - should do some degree of regression testing. It should not all be put on the interns. I agree that interns can have more tests assigned to them but assigning it all to an intern and not letting that intern have any time to develop and learn something else is very unfortunate.

Sample Interview Questions

the generic foobar question - if a number is divisible by 2, print "foo". If a number is divisible by 2, print "bar". If a number is divisible by 2 and 3, print "foobar"

Advice to Potential Interns

If you are planning to chill out, best place. But if you are expecting good work and god pay not a god place to do an internship.

Advice to Management

Give exciting work to interns, make the salary competent enough in the job market ( salary is very very low).

Full sized gym, on site chiropractor, physiotherapist, and massage. Teammates were really friendly.

Downers

Lack of meaningful work. I'll learn less and do less here in 8 months then I did in 4 months at either of my previous co-ops.

Advice to Potential Interns

SAP is great for your first internship. However, if you have already done previous ones and are looking for new challenges you will not find them here as an intern. Also, the manager you interview with is not the one who you will be working with, so you mat love your manager during the interview and then get put in a team that lets you do nothing other than manual testing all day every day. Also, the job offer will be a phone call, you have to accept it at that moment or you don't get the job; you will not know which team you are working on or what you will be doing only a start date and a wage.

Advice to Management

The intern should be able to meet or interview with the manager they are going to be with before they are forced to accept the job offer.

Sample Interview Questions

None really, just talked about all of my past internships and my side projects.

The trip to Seattle, as well as the day to day workload was pretty manageable

Downers

A lot of engineers are not understanding of the intern learning curve and expect things done quickly and are not open to delays.

Advice to Potential Interns

You will be asked to learn a lot and the actual work may not be similar to the advertised work.

Advice to Management

Compensation should be increased, at least for software engineers.

Sample Interview Questions

There were no technical questions, just validation of the things I listed on my resume.
