Developing real products instead of fake intern projects. Option to work remote if I need. Good people.

Downers

Odd location, long travel because not in the city. Office is often empty, many people work remote.

Advice to Potential Interns

Not the flashiest work or products but a solid place to learn. Some projects can be very cool and exciting, others can be very dry. Good opportunity for transitioning to full time.

Sample Interview Questions

Only technical question I got was a simple Javascript question. Something like explain the coding principles behind registering a button click. Expected response would include mention of attaching listeners and callback function fired. Mostly just wanted to make sure I had some understanding of web programming.

Career Development programing
Internship Program - the part run by HR

Downers

Work often lacked focused, not what was described in job description
Certain positions almost guaranteed jobs - not so likely in sales

Advice to Potential Interns

Good people, willing to help you learn and grow. Don't go into it expecting to be handed a job after depending on your role. GREAT mentorship and development experience from both HR and personal mentor.

Advice to Management

You addressed the physical space now address the culture, the office in very new and open concept, but those who work in the office are still in a meeting, closed door, silo mindset. For HR: Interns don't always need to meet with the CEO, sometimes the best advice comes from someone at the lower level. Although the face time is nice, it would be better to meet with SVPs from different areas to learn more about the business.

Sample Interview Questions

What drives you to get out of bed every morning to come to work?
What do you want to get out of this internship?
What are your strengths/weakness? - asked multiple different ways by multiple people
What was a time you had a conflict and how did you handle it?
Tell me about a time you had a deadline and didn't meet it.

Learn about the _____ department at _______ company by shadowing over the summer

3.3 of 5 stars

Reston, VA | 2017 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

Meeting a team of professionals who worked in the field I hope to work in and being a part of a company culture.

Downers

My manager did not meet with me frequently, did not mentor me and did not give me projects that helped me learn.

Advice to Potential Interns

I would ask whoever your manager is going to be what your day-to-day activities are. Base your decision of where you want to intern based off of the tasks they say and how much you think you will learn from these tasks.

Advice to Management

I think the training needs to be improved. I was never told what was expected from me on a day-to-day basis and no one wants to have to guess what their responsibilities are. I also suggest having a plan with goals for your intern that they can see at the beginning of the summer so at the end of the summer they can track their progress.

Sample Interview Questions

" What will you bring to the office that someone else might not"

"What are three adjectives that describe you"
