Westar Energy offers several internships in the following
fields: Engineering, Accounting & Finance, Audit, Human
Resources, Information Technology, Biology & Conservation, Real
Estate, Corporate Communications, Lineman, Substation Tech.
Interns at Westar will work closely with technical experts in
each discipline giving additional insight into the challenges of
managing in the changing electrical utility environment. As Kansas'

Most of our interns work in an office type of environment. We do
have some interns that work in a field environment or at one of our

The duration for most of our interns is 3 months. However, many
of our interns do continue past that time period and work part-time
during the school year.
Interns are paid bi-weekly on an hourly basis. Depending on
their major and year in school, interns make between $16-$20/hour.
If they meet qualifications, interns can get up to $500/month for
housing or $200/month for mileage.
