Broadcom is a company created by engineers, managed by experienced industry leaders and powered by the talents of a highly diverse and motivated workforce. We make it our business to hire, inspire and develop the very best people in the industry, worldwide. As communications technologies continue to converge in new and exciting ways, career opportunities are emerging at Broadcom in a variety of specialties and locations around the globe.

Since 2001, Broadcom has been connecting top students with challenging internship and co-op positions that offer the opportunity to work with some of the most experienced and talented individuals in the industry. We hire interns located in countries around the globe, such as the United States, United Kingdom, India, Israel, Canada, China, Singapore and Taiwan. All of our locations host interns from a variety of backgrounds with representation in degrees, majors and cultural experiences.

Broadcom's Internship/Co-Op Program employs paid, full-time or part-time students while attending a university. The Talent Solution Partners assist business units and their departments in providing formalized intern programs to assimilate the interns to common Broadcom practices and skills needed to satisfy internship or co-op requirements.

Interns are students who are currently pursuing a BS, MS or PhD degree from an accredited University or College. As a company which is made up of approximately ~80% engineers, we mostly hire interns who are pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, which will work with our engineering teams to provide solutions for Broadcom's variety of chipsets for our customers' product lines of wired and wireless technologies. We also have opportunities for Finance, Legal, Sales, and MBA students. Students can use their work experience at Broadcom to gain practical knowledge in their chosen major, dependent on class load and work authorization restrictions, if any. Internship duration is generally set at the beginning of the assignment and may be extended or shortened based on company needs. Generally, the majority of our interns will be provided an opportunity during the summer months, however, interns are permitted to work throughout the school year (part time hours) until the completion of their degree program if so agreed upon.

Co-Ops are students who are currently enrolled in their College or Universities Co-Op Program, while pursuing a BS, Business, Legal, MS, MBA or PhD degree. These students are required to apply classroom knowledge to actual work situations to gain hands-on work experience and an understanding of business culture and expectations. Co-Op students are generally full time (40 hours per week) and vary depending on the College/University Co-Op Program and student availability. Co-Op assignments generally alternate between academic terms, until the student completes the degree program.

Here at Broadcom we value flexibility, employee engagement, and a collaborative envioronment. Interns can expect to work directly with full-time employees and will be assigned actual, engaging work that will make an impact on the project. Our interns make their own schedules as agreed upon with their manager, ensuring that school work, exams, papers, etc are the students' number one focus. Interns are paid competitively [based on market data] on a non-exempt hourly basis. Hourly rate is based on a variety of factors, the most prominent being the degree and year the student is pursuing at their college or university: interns can expect an hourly rate of anywhere from USD$20 - $47. Those who are required to relocate to a Broadcom office that is not local to their university can expect a relocation stipend to assist with travel, and other housing expenses.

In addition to compensation, interns at Broadcom can also expect the following:

  • Professional development seminars and leadership development trainings
  • Technical seminars [open to all employees] on various engineering focused topics
  • Intern lunches with executive speakers
  • Progress/evaluation reviews and feedback
