About Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, The

Founded in 1975, the Washington Center is a nonprofit organization that offers internships and academic seminars. The organization is focused on building future leaders and aims to provide a combination of academics, professional experience, and real-life experience. More than 50,000 people have participated in its programs.

The Washington Center places students in a variety of internship opportunities in Washington, DC based on their interests. Internship areas include advocacy, service and the arts; business and global trade; the Governors internship; international affairs; law and criminal justice; media and communications; political leadership; science, and technology and society, among others. Past host organizations have included Amnesty International, Children's Defense Fund, Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, United Way of America, US Attorney's Office, US Chamber of Commerce, and US Department of the Treasury. Interns also complete academic studies and participate in a Leadership Forum. In addition to its US program, the Washington Center offers internship opportunities abroad in London and Sydney.

Eligibility

Undergraduate (sophomore year and higher), graduate, MBA, and law students are eligible. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply. Open to non-US citizens.
