About Make-A-Wish Foundation Wishgranting Internship

The Program Services department (Wish granting) is responsible for the processing of each and every wish that comes through our doors as well as hosting those children from across the country and around the world whose wishes are granted in Metro New York and Western New York.

Summary: Provide support to program services staff responsible for the coordination and administration of wishes

Office Locations: Buffalo, Metro New York (Lake Success, Long Island)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in coordinating the process of granting wishes by using Make-A-Wish policies, guidelines and procedures (includes referrals, volunteer assignments, wish coordination)
• Research all options for delivering wishes in the most cost-effective and high level quality manner
• Perform various clerical functions such as filing, typing, data entry, copying, recording information and mailing correspondence, creating itineraries, contacting vendors for donations, etc.
• Enter wish family information into database
• Maintains hard copy files and up-to-date information in database
• Answer phones and make follow-up calls as directed
• Track progress of wish interviews in conjunction with wish coordinator
• Will help to liaise with vendors (i.e. Give Kids the World for Disney wishes) and constituencies (i.e. volunteer corps, medical community) involved in the wish-granting process
• Special projects as needed

Education and Experience for all positions:
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer literate with working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry, the internet-Adobe knowledge a plus. Good organizational skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Time Frame:
Fall/Winter, Winter/Spring, Summer Semesters

Time Commitment:
Minimum - 2 days a week during business hours (Monday - Friday/9am - 5pm)
